Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Off-Council Attorney, Student Attorney, to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for law students or emerging legal professionals to gain practical experience across a diverse range of legal areas, including estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, family law, securities law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, tribal law & regulations, litigation, and patent law. The position involves conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and supporting attorneys in case preparation within a professional law office environment. Candidates must demonstrate strong research and writing skills, familiarity with legal research tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw, and possess or be developing expertise in various legal practice areas.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research using LexisNexis, Westlaw, and other legal research tools to support ongoing cases and projects.
  • Assist attorneys with case preparation across multiple practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, landlord-tenant law, family law, securities law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, tribal law & regulations, litigation, and patent law.
  • Draft legal documents such as memos, briefs, pleadings, contracts, and correspondence with attention to accuracy and clarity.
  • Support the review of legal documents for compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Participate in client interviews and meetings as needed under supervision.
  • Maintain organized case files and ensure timely updates of case status in the firm’s management system.
  • Engage in ongoing legal research to stay current on relevant laws and regulations affecting cases.
  • Collaborate with attorneys on negotiations and strategy development to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to case management within a professional law office setting.

Experience

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited law school; prior internship or administrative experience in a legal setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with a broad range of legal practice areas such as estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, family law, securities law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, tribal law & regulations, litigation, and patent law is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in legal research platforms including LexisNexis and Westlaw.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to produce clear and concise legal drafts.
  • Experience with legal drafting and administrative tasks within a Law Office environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough legal research and analysis. This position provides valuable hands-on experience for aspiring attorneys seeking to develop their skills across multiple disciplines within a supportive professional environment.

Job Types: Contract, Internship

Pay: $19.00 - $50.00 per hour
