Summary
This employee performs a variety of clerical and data entry duties in support of the Adult Probation and Community Service Department. Position requires a substantial working knowledge of office procedures, completion of simple and complex data entry, strong Windows based computer skills, customer service, and use of a variety of office equipment. Job duties will be performed in a team environment and independently.
Job Duties
Primary duties include answering incoming telephone calls, greeting the public, information gathering, completion and preparation of paperwork, filing, data entry, and file preparation. Position involves dealing with the public – including government and non-profit agencies, fellow county employees, court staff, and offenders. Ability to work in a team oriented work environment and independently as specific job duties dictate. Knowledge of office practices and procedures and strong communication skills – both written and verbal. Ability to deal with diverse individuals; process a high-volume of cases/referrals; read and perform basic mathematical calculations; identify and correct errors in data entry; correct spelling, grammar and punctuation; organize and accurately document information and data pertinent to operations; identify work that needs to be completed and follow-through with work that needs to be completed; gather, collect, analyze and prepare statistical data for reports; identify and prioritize work and projects that need to be completed.
Employee will be required to meet with offenders to complete community service participant registration – processing paperwork, entering accurate data, and making appropriate community service placements; assisting the community service coordinator prepare notices of non-compliance, and filing of documents in court files. Additionally, employee may assist with processing paperwork for the CASC program as it is coordinated by and through the Adult Probation Department.
Additional duties will be assigned as needed by the Court, Chief Probation Officer, Deputy Director, Coordinator of Special Services, Community Service Coordinator, and Office Manager.
Employee must understand and follow county and departmental safety procedures, which includes handling of confidential information. Position requires moderate lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and bending.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should possess a high school diploma. An associate’s degree is preferred. A minimum of one (1) year related work experience is required. Knowledge of office practices and procedures; ability to define problems, collect data, analyze the circumstances and draw appropriate conclusions; familiarity with data collection and statistical reporting; strong Windows based computer skills [ie: Word, Excel, Access and Outlook] and capability to efficiently learn new department-specific computer software programs and equipment; and education, training and/or experience required to perform the duties required of this position. Employee needs to understand basic fiscal and budgeting principals. Employee must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Additional Information
Applicants must meet the minimum requirements. All applications will be required to pass a background check, complete competency testing related to the duties of the position and submit to a drug/alcohol screening test. Also, certain classifications, because of the nature of the work, require pre-placement and/or periodic physical examinations which may include drug/alcohol screening tests.
Pay: $19.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
