Our office manages multiple businesses and is seeking a motivated Office Assistant / Bookkeeper to provide administrative and financial support. The position begins at 16-24 hours per week, with the potential for additional hours and even full-time employment for the right candidate. Hours are flexible, making this role an excellent fit for someone seeking practical business and accounting experience.
Typical Duties:
- Manage accounts payable and ensure timely vendor payments
- Assist with budget forecasting and financial planning
- Bill invoices and track incoming payments
- Handle cash box activity and record monthly rents
- Deposit checks at the bank and maintain accurate records
- Perform payroll for employees
- Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and yearly tax filings
- Complete monthly reconciliations of accounts
- Prepare financial statements and reports
- Track and enter sales activity across multiple businesses
- Submit compliance documentation for EGLE & OSHA
- Provide general administrative support as needed
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word required
- Knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting software preferred (not required)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and solve problems effectively
- Honest, reliable, and ambitious personality
Compensation & Schedule:
- Starting pay: $15 – $20 per hour, based on experience
- Part-time: 16 hours/week to start, with potential for more hours
