Office Clerk (part-time)- Human Resources

This part time position serves as administrative support in the Human Resources Office and will be expected to work 4 – 5 hours per day between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm. Flexibility can be provided

Description of Duties:

Duties include assisting with the following of personnel policies and procedures, providing routine clerical support work, maintaining personnel records, completing required forms and paperwork. Enter and maintain information in databases including utilization of ADP. Prepare and maintain reports. The clerk also serves as a resource to employees with providing assistance with personnel related questions such as sharing benefits enrollment and procedure information.

Perform important work involving assisting the Human Resources Director with other personnel related functions in the Town including supporting the organization's wellness program.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Good knowledge of office terminology, practices, procedures, routines and equipment
  • Good knowledge of record keeping and techniques
  • Good knowledge of business arithmetic, English grammar and punctuation
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to utilize a computer for word processing, database entry, spreadsheets, and other related computer software including MS Office Suite
  • Ability to acquire familiarity with HR department or agency organization, laws, policies, and regulations
  • Ability to understand and carry out relatively complex oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to work with a high level of accuracy
  • Demonstrate tact and courtesy
  • Ability to establish good working relationships with others;

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus either:

(A) Two (2) years of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent office clerical experience in clerical or secretarial experience; OR,

(B) Graduation with an Associate’s degree or successful completion of at least 60 college semester credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university; OR,

(C) Any equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.

Preferred Qualification includes experience and/or knowledge in the field of human resources and utilization of automated HR/payroll systems.
