The Law Offices of Richard J. Washington, P.C. is seeking a highly organized and motivated Paralegal / Office Coordinator to provide direct support to a solo practitioner in a fast-paced litigation practice handling criminal defense, labor disputes, and discrimination matters. This role combines substantive legal support with office coordination and administrative responsibilities, making it ideal for a candidate with strong multitasking, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Paralegal Responsibilities

Draft legal memoranda, motions, affirmations, correspondence, and court filings.

Conduct legal research involving case law, statutes, regulations, and procedural rules.

Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, reviewing discovery, and preparing witness materials.

Proofread, cite-check, and format legal documents to ensure compliance with court and filing standards.

Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, law enforcement agencies, and witnesses.

Maintain and manage case files, litigation materials, calendars, and court deadlines across multiple active matters.

Ensure confidentiality and accuracy in handling sensitive legal records and client information.

Office Coordinator Responsibilities

Coordinate daily office operations to maintain an organized and efficient work environment.

Manage attorney scheduling, calendars, deadlines, and administrative workflows.

Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and outside agencies.

Monitor office supplies, filing systems, and administrative procedures.

Assist with billing, document management, and general office administration.

Support overall firm operations and ensure timely completion of administrative tasks.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Prior paralegal, legal assistant, or office administration experience preferred.

Strong legal writing, proofreading, and research abilities.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Professional verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Familiarity with court filing procedures and litigation support preferred.

Pay: $20.00 per hour
