Overview:

Maple Grove Lutheran Church (MGLC) is seeking a professional and compassionate Office Manager to serve as the heart of our daily operations. As the primary point of contact for our congregation and community, you will play a vital role in fostering a welcoming environment in the love and grace of Christ, while overseeing the church’s administrative, worship, and communication systems.

Reports to:

The office manager reports directly to the Pastor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administrative Support: The office manager will provide direct administrative support to the Pastor and Children, Youth & Family Ministry Leader. This role will also manage the master church calendar, office budget, vendor contracts, and other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Worship Administration: Partner with pastor and worship leaders to prepare all materials for weekly services and special milestones services or events (Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals).
  • Membership Data: Oversee the membership database, ensuring all data, special dates, attendance and participation are kept updated and ensure annual ELCA statistical reporting is accurate.
  • Congregational Communication: Oversee the Communications Specialist’s production of all digital and print media, ensuring clear and consistent messaging across email marketing and social platforms.
  • Supervision: Supervise Communications Specialist, and office volunteers, including conducting annual performance reviews.

Required Experience:

  • Customer Service: A natural ability to assist members and visitors with warmth, patience, and confidentiality.
  • Software: Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel) and a comfort level for learning other cloud-based programs/applications, such as membership database, worship planning, and communications platforms.
  • Administrative: Experience with a wide array of administrative tasks including phones, welcoming visitors, mail distribution, purchasing, maintaining office equipment and leases, overseeing registration for ministry events and classes, maintaining the office budget, and calendar management.
  • Leadership: Experience in supervising and collaborating with a team and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Additional Skills: The ability to anticipate, plan for, and prioritize multiple workflows.

Salary: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour depending on experience.

Schedule & Benefits

  • Hours: 32 hours per week, hourly, non-exempt.
  • Schedule: In office - Monday–Thursday 8:30 am – 4:00 pm, and remote work 9:00 am – 1:00 pm on Fridays. Flexibility may be needed based on seasonal and ministry needs.
  • Benefits: Paid time off and sick leave.

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
