Office Services Clerk /Family Investment Aide position

$21 – 23 per hour

The Charles County Department of Social Services (CCDSS) is hiring a full-time (FT) Family Investment Office Service Clerk to work in our Customer Service/Lobby Support Unit. This position is contingent and is employed by the Tri-County Council of the Lower Eastern Shore (TCC) and functions within the CCDSS department. CCDSS offers a supportive working environment and professional training and development.

The Family Investment Office Service Clerk position is responsible for assisting the greeter’s desk and lobby with managing customers walking in and supporting front desk operations, providing a customer service experience that aligns with the mission of the organization.

Candidates in this position will have an opportunity to interview for advance positions as they become available.

This is an entry level position that will be exposed to all areas of the Family Investment Administration (FIA).

Examples of work will consist of the following responsibilities but not limited to the following:

  • Assist with checking customers in as they arrive, which includes the following tasks: Submit customer information in the registration system, direct customers to the most efficient way for them to manage the benefits they receive or want to apply for, assist all customers entering the lobby seeking support with their application forms and status, online access or new applications, and provide basic assistance from the Family Investment Aide.
  • Manages the front window by assisting customers: This includes, but is not limited to the following tasks: Reviews, verifies and interprets information in records, applications and other documents by using knowledge of agency policies and procedures to determine if appropriate procedures have been followed and to resolve problems;
  • Responds to inquiries, makes determinations and resolves problems relative to inaccurate or incomplete information and discrepancies in various records and documents being processed;
  • Explains basis of determinations to workers in other offices and agencies, customers or their representatives and the general public;
  • Updates, uploads and maintains files, logs, schedules, rosters and records;
  • Composes routine correspondence to provide or request essential information, explain the status of requests and the procedures to be followed;
  • Performs duties associated with the Electronic Transfer Benefits Card (EBT) maintenance and issuance process, and completes and reports monthly accounting of activity;
  • Provide basic information for applicants applying for benefits;
  • Provide support for translation services; and,
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education: Completion of a high school diploma

Experience: Bilingual translation services and prior customer service experience is preferred. Computer skills to include Microsoft Office suite and Google applications experience preferred.

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
