Oiler Mechanic

Job Overview

The Second Shift (2:30pm - 10:30pm M, T, W, F, Sa, Su) Oiler/Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, lubricating, and maintaining production equipment and mill systems to ensure safe and efficient operation. This position supports the air compressor system, effluent pit system, river water intake system, and papermaking equipment, while assisting with general mill maintenance, preventative maintenance, repairs, and equipment upkeep throughout the Mill.

Responsibilities

  • Review maintenance logs, work schedules, and complete shift pass-over communications at the beginning and end of each shift
  • Follow all safety procedures, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensure safety devices are functioning properly
  • Inspect equipment and production areas to identify maintenance needs, troubleshoot issues, prioritize repairs, and coordinate work activities with supervisors and co-workers
  • Lubricate, grease, and oil production machinery, mechanical equipment, and related systems throughout the facility, including outdoor work areas
  • Perform preventative maintenance and maintain required maintenance logs, PM sheets, downtime records, and inventory documentation
  • Respond promptly to maintenance and lubrication service calls to support mill operations
  • Perform repairs, adjustments, replacements, installations, and modifications on machinery, equipment, infrastructure, and papermaking systems
  • Assist Maintenance Mechanics with repairs, projects, and maintenance activities as assigned
  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, drawings, diagrams, and maintenance instructions
  • Perform basic fabrication, welding, cutting, grinding, and machining tasks as required
  • Monitor and assist with maintenance of boilers, coolers, air compressors, pumps, energy sources, and related systems
  • Operate fork trucks, mechanical equipment, machinery, power tools, and hand tools safely and effectively
  • Clean, inspect, maintain, and properly store tools, equipment, chemicals, and maintenance areas according to company procedures
  • Observe facility conditions and report equipment deficiencies or safety concerns to supervisor
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and other maintenance-related duties as assigned
  • Perform work in confined spaces and from varying heights when required

Pay: $25.99 - $32.11 per hour
