On-Call Assisted Living Med Tech

Summary:

Med Techs are responsible for assisting the residents with taking their medications utilizing appropriate procedures as outlined by the Healthcare Director and in compliance with the state regulations. Perform resident care activities and related nursing services necessary, in caring for the personal needs, safety and comfort of residents as assigned.

Qualifications:

- Ability to verify strength of medication.

- Ability to assist with a variety of medication delivery systems including bottles, blister cards, and other systems as they become integrated into the medication pass. Ability to identify and verify on the medical record, the correct patient, time, dose, route, dosage form and drug as written on the MAR or physician order and the pharmacy printed label.

- Be aware of therapeutic effects and side effects. Watch for signs of unintended drug response, intolerance, idiosyncrasy, and or/or allergy. Use reference material available including the house pharmacy hotline.

- Ability to relate positively, effectively and appropriately with residents, families, community members and all levels of personnel.

- Provide personal care for residents by assisting as needed or performing entire procedure when necessary.

- Participate in the development and implementation of resident service plans according to facility policy and procedure. Keep informed of revisions in care plans through participation in mini-conferences.

Requirements:

- WA State Certified Nursing Assistant License OR Home Care Aide

- Current CPR and First Aid Certification

- Nurse Delegation and Focus on Diabetes (for Med Techs only)
