On-Call Gas Truck Mechanic

Job Summary Trashy’s Hauling and Junk Removal LLC is looking for an experienced gas truck mechanic to help maintain and repair our fleet on an as-needed basis. Our fleet includes two gas Ford F-250 trucks, one 26-foot gas box truck, and two dump trailers. Experience in welding is a PLIUS but not required.

All work will be performed on-site at our gravel truck lot in Hendersonville, TN. The ideal candidate will have strong experience diagnosing and repairing gas engines, brakes, suspension, trailer components, and general truck maintenance.

The mechanic must have their own tools, but we are willing to invest in additional tools and equipment as needed. Parts will be purchased through Trashy’s Hauling and Junk Removal LLC’s commercial auto parts accounts.

This position will be set up as an independent contractor through our payroll system. Hours will be tracked using Gusto’s clock-in and clock-out feature.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues on gas trucks and trailers
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on F-250s, a 26-foot gas box truck, and dump trailers
• Perform brake repairs and inspections
• Service trailer components, lights, wiring, tires, bearings, and suspension
• Perform tire-related work when possible, understanding that some larger truck tire work may require outside equipment
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance completed
• Work safely in an outdoor gravel-lot environment
• Communicate clearly about needed repairs, parts, timelines, and safety concerns

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of gas engine repair experience required
• Proven experience as a mechanic or similar role
• Strong knowledge of automotive and light/medium-duty truck repair
• Experience with brakes, electrical diagnostics, suspension, and general maintenance
• Trailer repair experience preferred
• Must have own tools
• Valid driver’s license preferred
• Ability to commute to Hendersonville, TN 37075
• Ability to lift heavy parts and work outdoors as needed
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Pay: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour
