Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable On-Call Nurse to provide exceptional patient care across various healthcare settings. Responsibilities
- Respond swiftly to on-demand calls, providing clinical assessments and interventions in diverse settings such as hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, or home care environments.
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations including vital signs, physical examinations, and health assessments to determine immediate needs or ongoing care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments such as IV infusions, injections, suturing, or wound care following aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists (including cardiology, ophthalmology, or infectious disease), and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans.
- Document all patient interactions accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner while adhering to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality.
- Provide patient education on medication administration, disease management—including dementia or Alzheimer's care—and post-discharge instructions.
- Assist with emergency procedures such as airway management, ventilator support, or trauma stabilization in Level I or Level II trauma centers.
Experience
- Proven nursing experience in acute care settings such as ICU, emergency room, hospital medicine, or critical care units.
- Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or memory care needs.
- Familiarity with medical documentation standards including ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical records management.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and sterile processing procedures.
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks is highly preferred.
- Background in specialized areas like cardiology (catheterization), dialysis nursing, hospice & palliative medicine, or behavioral health is advantageous.
- Ability to perform complex procedures including phlebotomy, venipuncture, tube feeding management, and specimen collection/processing.
- Critical thinking skills demonstrated through triage experience and case management across outpatient or inpatient environments.
