On-Call Preschool Substitute Teacher

Position Summary:

The Preschool Substitute Teacher is responsible for temporarily supporting the classroom in the absence of the lead or assistant teacher. This role ensures a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children while maintaining the daily routine and expectations of the preschool program.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the classroom
• Follow lesson plans and classroom schedules left by the regular teacher
• Lead classroom activities such as circle time, play, meals, and transitions
• Maintain a positive, patient, and supportive attitude with children
• Manage classroom behavior using appropriate guidance techniques
• Communicate effectively with staff and administration
• Keep the classroom clean, organized, and prepared for daily use
• Report any incidents, concerns, or important updates to administration

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required (CDA or early childhood coursework preferred)
• Experience working with young children in a preschool or childcare setting preferred
• Ability to adapt quickly to different classrooms and routines
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Must pass background screening and meet state licensing requirements
