JOB
Perform a variety of routine tasks, primarily sorting and shelving library materials to maintain the order and appearance of the library. Must have reliable transportation.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.)Sort and shelve books and other library materials alpha/numerically.Perform shelf reading and reorganize shelves for correct location of materials and attractive appearance of shelves.Act as a representative of Sacramento Public Library to the public.Ensure that surfaces are cleared and items and materials are returned to their proper locations after they have been used.Pull materials from library generated
lists.Direct customers to the information desk for assistance.Maintain positive relationships with other staff and members of the public.Attend meetings and participate in various teams as scheduled.Check in library materials.Participate in outreach activities.Retrieving and shelving print and non-print materials.Preparing and processing new material for circulation.Providing basic assistance to patrons on self-service technology or software.Photocopying and messenger work.Assisting with the setting up of library programs and outreach initiatives.Preparing the library opening and/or closing by performing such assignments as rearranging/straightening chairs and tables, picking up materials for shelving, and replenishing depleted supplies (e.g. pencils, pads, printer and photocopy paper).Perform other related duties as assigned.
