Board Certified/Eligible Interventional Radiology Physicians qualified to perform:
Services Provided: The Contractor shall provide Board Certified /Board Eligible Abdominal/GU, Breast Imaging, Cardiovascular, General, Interventional, Musco skeletal, Neuroradiology Radiology Physician Services on site in accordance with the specifications contained herein to beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the James J. Peters VA Medical Center. The VA Radiology Services follow the standards & guidelines set forth by American College of Radiology (ACR). A contractor providing onsite Abdominal/GU, Breast Imaging, Cardiovascular, General, Interventional, Musco skeletal, Neuroradiology radiologist services shall provide services that meet or exceed the American College of Radiology Guidelines
Copies of any and all licenses, board certifications, NPI, to include primary source verification of all licensed and certified staff
Technical Proficiency: Contractor's physician(s) shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the government's requirements, including the ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently. Contractor shall provide documents upon request of the CO/COR to verify current and ongoing competency, skills, certification and/or licensure related to the provision of care, treatment and/or services performed. Contractor shall provide verifiable evidence of all educational and training experiences including any gaps in educational history for all contractor's physician(s) and contractor's physician(s) shall be responsible for abiding by the Facility's Medical Staff By-Laws, rules, and regulations (referenced herein) that govern medical staff behavior.
Direct Patient Care: Estimated 82% of the time involved in direct patient care. Contractor shall be responsible for providing 2,080 hrs of on-site clinical Interventional Radiology procedures, 6,760 hrs of after-hour on-call emergency Interventional Radiology coverage including nights, weekends and holidays.
Scope of Care: Contractor's physician(s) shall be responsible for providing Interventional Radiology procedures, including, but not limited:
Y90 Radioembolization Clinic: Contractor's physician(s) shall be present on time for any scheduled clinics as documented by physical presence in the clinic at the scheduled start time.
Consultation Responsibilities: Contractor physician(s) shall provide consultation with and instruction to referring physicians regarding appropriate indications for interventional radiologic procedures so that the most expeditious and clinically appropriate work-up can be done. Contractor physician(s) shall determine the appropriate course of treatment and communicate in person or by phone with the referring clinicians.
Medications: Contractor physician(s) shall follow all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients.
Discharge education: Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all emergency department patients.
Patient Safety Compliance and Reporting: Contractor's physician(s) shall follow all established patient safety and infection control standards of care. Contractor's physician(s) shall make every effort to prevent medication errors, falls, and patient injury caused by acts of commission or omission in the delivery of care. All events related to patient injury, medication errors, and other breeches of patient safety shall be documented in the medical record of those impacted and disclosed to the patient or surrogate. As soon as practicable (but within 24 hours) Contractors shall notify COR of incident and submit an entry in the VA Patient Safety Reporting System, following up with COR as required or requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Staff/Facility
License: The Contractor's physician(s) assigned by the Contractor to perform the services covered by this contract shall have a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia) when services are performed onsite on VA property.
All licenses held by the key personnel working on this contract shall be full and unrestricted licenses. Contractor's physician(s) who have current, full and unrestricted licenses in one or more states, but who have, or ever had, a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action or denied upon application will not be considered for the purposes of this contract.
Board Certification: All contractor's physician(s) shall be Board Certified /Board Eligible in Interventional Radiology per the American Board of Radiology (http://www.theabr.org/). All continuing education courses required for maintaining certification must be kept up to date at all times. Documentation verifying current certification shall be provided by the Contractor to the VA COR on an annual basis for each year of contract performance
VA HOURS OF OPERATION/SCHEDULING:
VA Business Hours: The James J Peters Medical Center Interventional Radiology Section is open Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. The IR department provides service 24hrs/7 day a week with on-site clinical hours and on-call emergency coverage.
Please submit the following:
Include education, radiology/interventional training, clinical experience (inpatient, outpatient, emergency, consult), procedural skills, areas of interest or specialization, and any supervisory, teaching, or leadership roles.
Copy of your current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S. (or documentation showing eligibility to obtain one prior to start date).
Copy of ABR (or relevant) certification in Interventional Radiology or Diagnostic Radiology + IR.
If not yet certified, provide proof of eligibility and expected certification date.
Copy of current DEA certificate (with appropriate prescribing schedules). Include any state controlled substances registration if required.
Copy of valid Basic Life Support (BLS) (and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), if required) certification.
Documentation of medical degree (MD / DO) and completion of accredited radiology residency or integrated / fellowship training. Transcripts, diplomas, or certificate of completion may be required.
A log or summary of interventional cases / procedural volumes (type, number, dates) demonstrating competence.
Any institution‑provided functional or scope of practice statement signed by the candidate (if required by the facility).
If there are any gaps in education or employment, provide brief explanations with dates and reason (e.g. leave, relocation, sabbatical).
Off-hours Coverage: Contractor must make the contractor's physician(s) available on-call during all hours when the James J Peters Medical Center Interventional Radiology Section is closed, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
