ON-SITE Medical Biller

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented ON-SITE Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of medical billing and coding procedures, with a focus on accurate documentation and compliance. This role requires on-site presence to facilitate seamless communication with clinical staff, insurance providers, and patients. The successful applicant will play a vital role in ensuring precise coding, efficient billing processes, and timely reimbursement, contributing to the overall financial health of the practice.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign diagnosis codes using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to ensure proper documentation of patient conditions.
  • Utilize CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes for procedures and services rendered, ensuring precise billing for insurance claims.
  • Review medical records thoroughly to verify the accuracy of documentation and coding compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Prepare and submit clean claims electronically or via paper to insurance companies, following established billing protocols.
  • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collection efforts, resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications and their impact on reimbursement processes.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to clarify documentation needs and ensure complete, compliant medical records for billing purposes.
  • Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems efficiently to manage patient data and billing information.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting, with familiarity in both ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and coding principles including DRG, CPT, and ICD coding systems.
  • Experience working with EMR/EHR systems to streamline billing workflows and maintain accurate records.
  • Excellent understanding of medical billing processes, collections, insurance claim submission, and follow-up procedures.
  • Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately for proper coding and billing purposes.
  • Prior medical office experience is preferred, demonstrating familiarity with healthcare operations and compliance standards.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all aspects of billing and coding tasks.
