Your Purpose:
As an Onboard Manager, you will manage and inspire the Onboard Service team, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth onboard services. Implement best practices to boost efficiency, monitor operational metrics, and maintain schedules. Your role will be pivotal in managing training, compliance, and staff supervision, ensuring quality and adherence to standards. Coordinate marketing efforts, manage health and safety compliance, and assist with budget monitoring. Actively participate as part of the management team to support overall goals.

In this role, you will supervise Teammates who are based across various locations throughout our corridor.

Your Role [Essential Functions]:
Culture and Team Management
  • Be an active member of the management team and coordinate with peers to support upper management’s goals and objectives of the railway.
  • Manage Teammates with company values to foster a Guest-focused culture.
  • Motivate Teammates and maintain a positive work environment while reflecting Brightline’s values.
  • Supervise assigned staff, assign work, monitor hours, authorize timesheets, oversee quality and timeliness, verify compliance, conduct performance reviews, participate in interviewing and selection, administer corrective actions, and ensure safety and security.
  • Maintain onboard train schedules for bid shifts, shift swaps, and callouts.
  • Monitor the review and approval of PTO requests.
Operational Efficiency
  • Implement and manage best practices to increase efficiency.
  • Monitor operational metrics and maintain tracking systems.
  • Foster collaboration with Rail Operations for seamless onboard operations.
  • Monitor, coordinate, and communicate with Teammates and leadership during incidents and follow-ups.
  • Work with the Ancillary Revenue Team to coordinate and maintain marketing efforts for onboard events.
Training and Development
  • Manage training for high-performing onboard services.
  • Coordinate ongoing service and operational training (POS, EPREP, CPR, etc.) and update operating manuals.
Compliance and Records
  • Track and maintain compliance records for all operational and FRA requirements.
  • Coordinate compliance with local health and safety standards, Teammate training, and industry codes.
Budget and Financial Management
  • Assist in monitoring the department’s budget.
  • Review and approve invoices related to operating supplies, including F&B, in the absence of the General Manager.
Communication:
  • Monitor and review all Brightline communication channels, including our company intranet, bConnected, during work hours to ensure all company and department communications and notifications are promptly assimilated and acted upon when necessary.

Managerial Responsibility:

Experience & Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
  • Associate’s degree in Business Management, Retail, or Hotel Operations, or related field preferred.

  • Experience with Guest services, food and beverage, business administration, and process management.
  • Previous experience with managing processes, policies and procedures in an operational environment is required.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in either Retail, Food &Beverage or other ancillary revenue products.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy and ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Keen ability to deal effectively with Guests, management, Teammates, and outside contacts, while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and presentation skills; including the ability to provide written and verbal direction effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of HACCP protocols and Health regulations preferred.
  • Must be able and willing to work any shift including weekends and holidays based on operational needs as necessary.
  • Good physical condition to handle the demands of the job, which may include working in various environments and performing manual tasks. Capable of, climbing, pushing, pulling and bending for extended periods frequently lifting and/or moving objects up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
​Works in a clean, air-conditioned office space, free of noise, dust, and humidity.​

Physical Demands:
​Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. This position is very active, and the employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl all day.​ ​Occasional lifting of light items required.​ ​No specific vision requirements.​

Objects weighing 70 pounds or more must be accompanied by a second individual to avoid injury.
