Oncology Clinical Education Specialist Position Summary

The Oncology Clinical Education Specialist is a Registered Nurse who is clinically competent in the field of oncology and demonstrates expanded roles of nursing in expert patient care delivery, education, consultation, and leadership/administration. The Oncology Clinical Education Specialist functions as an educator who will design and implement educational programs for the oncology service line and support orientation, ongoing education and competency requirements for all RNs and Medical Assistants working in Medical Oncology, Infusion, Radiation Oncology and Oncology Specialty Clinics. They will serve as a liaison between the Cancer Center and Clinical Education departments to ensure a streamlined education process for Ambulatory Oncology and 3 East RNs. The Registered Nurse fulfilling this role is a staff education development and competency expert that delivers high quality education while assuring accrediting agency standards are maintained and current. Job expectations also include promoting excellence in patient care delivery, supporting and facilitating professional growth and development and upholding standards of professionalism. Travel between the TidalHealth oncology locations in Maryland and Delaware is required.

Oncology Clinical Education Specialist Position Requirements

  • Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) education required. Five (5) years of oncology nursing experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland or Delaware.
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy & Immunotherapy Certification required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Teaching experience preferred.

Oncology Clinical Education Specialist Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience in oncology preferred, including experience with electronic EMR.
  • Experience with teaching adult learners and with clinical education is preferred.
  • Experience with learning management systems is preferred.
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations in a group setting.
  • Experience with computer programs such as Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Oncology Clinical Education Specialist Work Schedule

  • Exempt, salaried position. Shifts are variable based on educational need.

  • At TidalHealth, full-time employees working at least 72 hours per pay period, part-time employees working at least 36 hours per pay period and part-time employees working at least 30 hours or more on weekends only are eligible for benefits.
