What You'll Do

As a Creative Writing Teacher, you will work directly with students in one-on-one or small-group online classes to develop their writing abilities and creative confidence.

Responsibilities include:

• Teaching creative writing through live online instruction
• Guiding students in fiction, short stories, poetry, personal narratives, essays, and other creative genres
• Helping students develop skills in storytelling, characterization, dialogue, plot structure, style, and revision
• Providing individualized feedback on student writing
• Encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression
• Designing engaging lessons and writing exercises tailored to student interests and goals
• Supporting students preparing for writing competitions, literary magazines, enrichment programs, and portfolio development when applicable
• Maintaining professional communication with academic coordinators and families

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for instructors who combine strong writing expertise with the ability to inspire young learners.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
• Degree in Creative Writing, English, Literature, Journalism, Education, or a related field preferred
• Previous experience teaching writing to elementary, middle, or high school students
• Published work, professional writing experience, or advanced creative writing training is highly valued
• Strong understanding of fiction, poetry, narrative writing, and the writing process
• Ability to provide constructive and encouraging feedback
• Comfortable teaching students from diverse backgrounds and varying skill levels
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Reliable internet connection and professional online teaching setup

Preferred Qualifications

• MFA in Creative Writing or related field
• Experience coaching students for writing contests, literary publications, or selective summer programs
• Experience teaching gifted, advanced, or highly motivated students
• Familiarity with online teaching platforms such as Zoom and Google Workspace

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
