Online Interdisciplinary STEM Tutor

Simplifi EDU is looking for exceptional tutors to join our team. That is why we have asked our current tutors, the people who know us best, to help us find more tutors like them.

Someone you trust sent you this post because they think you are exactly what we are looking for. Here is what that means.

We work 1:1 with motivated middle and high school students across STEM subjects, including physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics through advanced calculus. Our ideal tutor is an expert in their primary discipline and intellectually alive in others. A physicist who also loves history. A chemist who reads philosophy. A mathematician who speaks three languages. We call these career tutors, and it is the standard we hire for.

Who We're Looking For

Our tutors do not just help students pass tests. They help students build the problem-solving habits, intellectual flexibility, and resilience that carry them through rigorous academics and beyond. That kind of impact requires someone who brings more than subject-matter knowledge to a session. It takes someone who loves ideas broadly and knows how to make students feel that way, too.

If tutoring has been a long-term, meaningful part of your career, not a side job, not a gap-filler, and you want to work with a company that values that, we would love to talk.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Scheduling & Attendance: Maintain a consistent weekly lesson schedule with students (1 to 1.5 hours per lesson).
  • Parent Communication: Clearly communicate student progress, challenges, and strategies for improvement between sessions.
  • Lesson Documentation: Provide thorough session reports documenting what was covered and the steps being taken to move the student forward.

Desired Availability

Candidates should be available for at least 8 lesson hours per week:

  • At least 3 weekdays, Monday through Friday, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm Pacific Time.
  • Available to tutor at least one day on the weekends.

Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in at least one STEM discipline, built over years and tested with real students, paired with genuine curiosity and interest in exploring other disciplines.
  • 3+ years of tutoring or teaching experience, with meaningful experience at the AP or advanced level.
  • A track record of strong student outcomes: improved grades, AP exam results, or documented academic progress.
  • The ability to explain difficult concepts clearly and adapt to students with different learning styles and needs.
  • Comfort working with students who have ADHD, dyslexia, or processing challenges (preferred).
  • Familiarity with online teaching platforms and digital learning tools.
  • A copy of your college transcript will be required prior to hiring.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $40.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Flexible schedule
  • Referral program

Application Question(s):

  • Who referred you to Simplifi EDU?
  • What is your primary subject area, and at what level do you most commonly teach it?
  • How long have you been tutoring, and approximately how many students have you worked with one-on-one?
  • If you were to design three original courses (not part of any standard curriculum), what would they be and why? (e.g., Fundamentals of Yoga, Advanced Board Game Design, Essentials of Molecular Gastronomy)
  • Most of our tutors have deep expertise in STEM, but the ones who stand out also bring genuine curiosity outside their discipline. Tell us about the other side of your brain. Where do your interests go when they leave your primary field?
  • On a scale from 0 to 100, how confident are you in your ability to successfully teach students with diagnosed learning differences (e.g., ADHD, dyslexia, processing disorders)?
