Online Reading Tutor

Viva Phonics is looking for energetic teachers to lead one-on-one online reading tutoring, Monday-Friday during the afternoons and evenings. You will have access to a structured curriculum.

Regular One-on-One Sessions: Conduct 1:1 sessions with students, meeting at the same time on the same days 3-4 times per week.
Communication: Provide weekly updates to the student's family, keeping them informed about their child's progress, milestones achieved, and areas requiring additional focus.
Progress Monitoring: Monitor the progress of your students, assessing their strengths and areas for improvement.
Rescheduling Requests: Occasionally accommodate reschedule requests with advance notice, demonstrating flexibility and understanding of students' unique scheduling needs.
Technical Proficiency: Quickly navigate our online platform and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise during sessions. Ensure a seamless online learning experience for students.

• Pay begins at $12 per 20 minute teaching session with a maximum of 2 sessions per hour.
• We provide a comprehensive curriculum for your convenience.
• This position is a contract role with part-time working hours.
• In order to efficiently manage our application volume, we may request a teaching demonstration from specific candidates as part of our evaluation process before advancing to the interview stage.

Requirements:
1. Demonstrated experience in teaching children to read.
2. Possession of a valid state teaching license.
3. Available Monday through Friday, with flexibility to accommodate rescheduling requests.
4. A consistent schedule commitment of 2.5–5 hours per day, 3-4 days per week(Monday-Thursday), between 4:30 pm and 9:30 p.m. ET.
5. Exhibits a high level of professionalism, punctuality, and responsiveness.
6. Equipped with a headset and has access to a laptop or desktop computer with a direct connection to high-speed internet.

We highly prioritize individuals who possess:
1. Expertise in teaching a structured phonics /reading curriculum.
2. Experience in teaching reading at the elementary level.
3. A strong understanding of the science of reading.
