Job Summary:
The OPD Staff Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients attending the Outpatient Department. This includes patient assessment, preparing patients for consultations, assisting doctors during examinations and minor procedures, maintaining medical records, and ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care:
- Greet and prepare patients for consultations and procedures.
- Record vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respiration, SpO2).
- Maintain accurate and updated patient records.
- Administer medications and injections as prescribed.
- Assist in minor surgical or diagnostic procedures.
- Provide health education and instructions as directed by the physician.
- Clinical Assistance:
- Assist doctors during consultations and examinations.
- Ensure the availability and functionality of medical equipment.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms and OPD areas.
- Coordination and Communication:
- Coordinate with other departments (lab, pharmacy, billing, etc.) for smooth patient flow.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Infection Control and Safety:
- Follow standard precautions and infection control protocols.
- Ensure cleanliness and hygiene in the OPD area.
- Properly dispose of biomedical waste according to hospital policy.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain nursing records, incident reports, and other documentation accurately.
- Report patient condition changes or emergencies promptly to the physician or supervisor.
- Other Duties:
- Participate in training programs and staff meetings.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the OPD incharge or management.
Qualifications:
- Education: GNM / B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Licensure: Registered Nurse with State Nursing Council.
- Experience: 1–2 years of clinical experience in an OPD or hospital setting (preferred).
