Job Title: Registered Nurse Circulator, Operating Room

Location: Chicago, Illinois

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Operating Room Circulating Nurse (RN – Circulator) to join our surgical team. In this role, you will support surgeons and staff during procedures, ensure sterile environments, and provide high-quality perioperative care. The RN Circulator plays a vital role in patient safety, teamwork, and communication in the OR.

This is a full-time, dayshift role (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday) with participation in surgical team coverage.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) to provide and direct perioperative nursing care.
• Serve as circulating nurse during surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety and effective intraoperative care.
• Prepare operating rooms, equipment, and instruments prior to surgery.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical staff for optimal outcomes.
• Supervise and mentor other OR staff; may make decisions in absence of Surgical Services Manager.
• Maintain accurate surgical documentation and uphold compliance with policies and regulatory standards.
• Demonstrate strong teamwork, adaptability, and communication in a fast-paced environment.
• Provide patient and family education related to surgical outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Required).
• Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license (Required).
• BLS and ACLS certifications (Required).
• PALS certification (Preferred).
• 4–5 years of Operating Room experience (Required).
• Scrub experience (Required).
• Experience in spine, orthopedic, or robotic surgeries (Preferred).
• Strong knowledge of OR inventory and supply management.
• Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to thrive in high-pressure situations.

Schedule:

• Day Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• Full-time (Part-time consideration available)
