Levy Park Conservancy (LPC) is seeking full-time Operations & Grounds Technicians for Levy Park. Levy Park is a vibrant urban space located in the heart of the Upper Kirby District of Houston. The park’s thoughtful design features activity areas, a dog park, a community garden, the Children’s Park, and beautiful landscaping. Accenting the grounds are free, year-round passive and active programming in wellness, the arts, education, and recreation. Whether visiting the park for a special event, program, picnic, play date, or to enjoy the outdoors, Levy Park is an inclusive space to connect, experience, do, and play.

Levy Park Conservancy, an affiliate of the Upper Kirby District Foundation, is the private, nonprofit organization responsible for the maintenance, operation, and programming of Levy Park, a public City of Houston Park. For more information about Levy Park, please visit www.levyparkhouston.org.

Operations & Grounds Technicians report to the Operations Manager.

Job Description:

● Provides general landscape care, maintenance, and sanitation support of the park.

● Maintain park grounds by removing litter, emptying trash receptacles, cleaning park facilities, restrooms, and furniture ensuring the park is clean.

● Cares for and maintains all plant beds, trees, and turf by mowing, trimming, weeding, mulching, raking, sweeping, pruning, planting, and performing basic maintenance of the drainage and irrigation system.

● Maintains park hardscape, Dog Park, Children’s Park, buildings, umbrellas, and other fixed assets.

● Operation of power equipment such as lawn mower, edger, hedge trimmer, blower, and power washer as well as a variety of maintenance tools to maintain the park’s lawns and grounds.

● Be familiar with and able to discuss park grounds, activities, and rules; assisting with rules enforcement when necessary.

● Performing work as a member of a crew, or individually, as assigned.

● Assist with Levy Park signature events, programs, event rentals, and family celebration reservations as assigned.

● Consistent, timely attendance is an essential function of this job.

Desired Skills and Experience:

● Ability to work outdoors during all seasons and in varying weather conditions.

● Ability to perform work as a member of a crew, or individually, as assigned.

● Can lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

● Ability to read, understand, and complete written and verbal requests and work assignments.

● Good oral communication with an ability to communicate effectively with the public and co-workers.

● Dependable, detail-oriented, flexible, adaptable in a dynamic environment.

● Ability to represent the park with a high level of integrity and professionalism, adhere to park policies and support management decisions in a positive, professional manner.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.50 - $22.00 per hour
