Job description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operation theater with necessary surgical instruments, sterile drapes, and equipment.
- Ensure all surgical tools are sterilized and functioning properly before procedures.
- Assist in patient positioning and preparation under the direction of surgical or nursing staff.
- Hand surgical instruments and supplies to surgeons and assistants during operations.
- Monitor and maintain a sterile environment throughout the procedure.
- Handle specimens collected during surgery and ensure correct labeling and transport.
- Clean and disinfect surgical areas post-operation and restock supplies for the next procedure.
- Dispose of waste materials according to hospital safety protocols and infection control standards.
- Support anesthesiologists with equipment setup and monitoring as needed.
- Maintain inventory and request restocking of surgical supplies and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Certificate in Operation Theater Technology
- Prior experience in a hospital or surgical setting is often preferred.
- Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterile techniques, and operating room protocols.
- Basic understanding of anatomy, surgical procedures, and patient care standards.
