Operation Theater Technician - Manipal Hospital, Mysore

Job description:

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare the operation theater with necessary surgical instruments, sterile drapes, and equipment.
• Ensure all surgical tools are sterilized and functioning properly before procedures.
• Assist in patient positioning and preparation under the direction of surgical or nursing staff.
• Hand surgical instruments and supplies to surgeons and assistants during operations.
• Monitor and maintain a sterile environment throughout the procedure.
• Handle specimens collected during surgery and ensure correct labeling and transport.
• Clean and disinfect surgical areas post-operation and restock supplies for the next procedure.
• Dispose of waste materials according to hospital safety protocols and infection control standards.
• Support anesthesiologists with equipment setup and monitoring as needed.
• Maintain inventory and request restocking of surgical supplies and equipment.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Certificate in Operation Theater Technology
• Prior experience in a hospital or surgical setting is often preferred.
• Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterile techniques, and operating room protocols.
• Basic understanding of anatomy, surgical procedures, and patient care standards.
