Job Description and Duties

Are you interested in leading and supporting others through emergencies? Your expertise as a Water Resources Supervising Engineer (Specialist) could help us build a sustainable emergency management program of the future. For the State Water Project (SWP) assets and for the field personnel that operate and maintain them, the stakes are high before, during, and after an emergency. We are looking for someone like you to be the next Operational Readiness Lead within the Division of Operations and Maintenance’s Emergency Management Branch and help our emergency responders successfully meet the next crisis head-on. Joining our team as an emergency management trainer and exercise leader can turn preparedness into practice that saves lives, protects property, and maintains critical water conveyance operations. We need an emergency management practitioner who can effectively educate a myriad of office and field professionals and who can create dynamic and engaging simulations for tabletop and functional exercises. Use your skills to create and deliver comprehensive and interesting emergency management training that includes realistic disaster scenarios to educate SWP emergency responders and help identify areas of improvement. Collaborate with fellow Department emergency management personnel, local emergency management agencies, local communities, and State and federal agencies to help build durable and lasting partnerships within the California emergency management community. Whether it’s planning, coaching, or running full-scale simulations, you’ll keep our emergency readiness sharp and help our response teams meet any emergency challenge.
