About Bastrop Group Properties

Bastrop Group Properties is a family-owned commercial real estate business managing and developing multiple properties adjacent to Lost Pines. We operate as a lean, hands-on organization and are seeking a highly trustworthy, detail-oriented Controller to oversee financial operations, property transactions, and administrative functions. This role carries real ownership-level responsibility and requires discretion, accountability, and initiative.

Role Overview

This is a hands-on Controller / Operations Administrator role responsible for the financial health, operational oversight, and administrative backbone of the business. You will manage accounting, cash flow, real estate transactions, insurance, banking, and vendor coordination, while serving as a trusted partner to ownership.

This is not a corporate desk role — we are looking for someone who is comfortable being deeply involved in day-to-day operations and who takes pride in running a tight, well-organized operation.

Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management & Accounting

  • Oversee full accounting operations, including:
  • Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
  • Cash flow management
  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
  • Prepare and maintain P&L statements
  • Budgeting and financial forecasting
  • Ensure clean, accurate, and timely financial records
  • Work directly with ownership on financial decision-making

Tax & Compliance

  • Handle tax planning, preparation, and filings
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements
  • Coordinate audits if needed
  • Maintain all financial and regulatory documentation

Insurance & Risk Management

  • Evaluate, negotiate, and secure appropriate insurance coverage
  • Manage renewals, claims, and policy reviews
  • Ensure properties and operations are properly protected

Real Estate & Property Transactions

  • Support commercial real estate transactions (purchases, sales, leases)
  • Review contracts, closing documents, and financial implications
  • Coordinate with brokers, attorneys, lenders, and title companies
  • Track property-level financial performance

Banking & Financial Relationships

  • Manage relationships with banks and financial institutions
  • Oversee accounts, loans, and financing arrangements
  • Ensure efficient cash movement and liquidity management

Operations & Vendor Management

  • Work directly with vendors, including:
  • Construction vendors
  • Maintenance providers
  • Professional service vendors
  • Review contracts, invoices, and payment schedules
  • Monitor project costs and report to ownership
  • Act as the central operational point of contact

Qualifications & Requirements

  • CPA certification (required)
  • Strong accounting background with hands-on experience
  • Proven tax experience (business and real estate preferred)
  • Experience with insurance selection and negotiation
  • Knowledge of commercial real estate and property transactions
  • Experience managing P&L and cash flow
  • Comfortable working with banks, vendors, and ownership directly
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and trustworthy
  • Comfortable in a family-owned, small-team environment
  • High level of discretion and integrity

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
