Operations and Quality Manager

Top Duties and Responsibilities

The Operations and Quality Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the manufacturing plant and its employees. They are also responsible for overall product quality, including supplier quality, production quality and customer quality and ISO certification. They are responsible for directing, coordinating, and managing the overall plant operation. Their duties include hiring and training manufacturing plant employees, reviewing production records to determine whether employees meet their performance expectations.

The manager will also be responsible for coordinating materials planning and management with the purchasing personnel to ensure that production is always ready for the next build. They will also have the role of Corporate Quality Manager and will coordinate all ISO, UL, Customer-specific and other certification activities, as well as manage all audits, inspections and customer site visits. They are responsible for maintaining the documentation associated with the company Quality Management System, ISO certification along with any other documentation. They will work closely with engineering & operations personnel to implement any product and process improvement plans, corrective actions, and new product launches.

The Manager is responsible for all plant maintenance, upgrades, issue resolution, as well as security and protection, and would be on-call for any emergencies. They would train their back-up and ensure continuous coverage for all days that the plan is in operation.

The Manager should have experience in and be trained to do each role in the departments they oversee. The following are some duties and responsibilities of the Operations Quality Manager:

Quality Management:

  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives in order to increase quality, efficiency and safety.
  • Develop and implement plans and policies consistent with organization or corporate policies that help operations run smoothly.
  • Manage production line(s) and be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping.
  • Manage supplier quality to drive in-process component failure rates lower over time.
  • Collect and review production and quality data to improve product quality.
  • Analyze data and create reports to present to executives regarding processes.
  • Perform routine safety checks on equipment and schedule annual (or as required) equipment calibration.
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions as required
  • Maintain and address QMS and EMS requirements for Corrective & Preventive Actions

Production Management:

  • Recruit, train, on-board and motivate new employees to achieve required production results.
  • Establish areas of responsibility across all departments they oversee.
  • Oversee daily work schedules to ensure coverage.
  • Practice conflict resolution among departments and employees
  • Oversee all shipments, incoming inventory, and storage operations, and expedite the receipt and shipment of goods as needed.
  • Conduct quarterly physical inventory and reconciliation.
  • Evaluate employees and give suggestions for improvement.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Interpersonal and conflict management skills
  • Knowledge of latest safety laws and regulations
  • Detailed knowledge of plant and manufacturing operations
  • Good problem-solving abilities

Education and Training requirements

MS or BS in EE, Mechanical or Process Engineering

5-10 years of direct experience in the Electronics or computer manufacturing industry. Please do not apply if you don't have direct experience in these two industries.

Salary and Benefits

Job Type: Full-time

Salary Range: $80K-$100K

Report to the Director of Engineering & Operations.

Salary- depending on experience.
