JC101806 Operations Delivery Business Partner

SUMMARY: The Operations Delivery Business Partner (BP) serves as the primary financial advisor and strategic partner to the Operations Delivery leadership team responsible for executing projects. This role provides financial stewardship, drives operational performance insights, and ensures financial rigor across all stages of project delivery from planning, initiation, and execution through closeout. The BP plays a critical role in optimizing project profitability, supporting operational decision‑making, improving forecasting accuracy, and strengthening financial acumen within delivery teams. Success in this role requires strong analytical capability, exceptional partnership skills, and a deep understanding of project‑based financial drivers in a services‑based organization.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the lead finance partner to Operations Delivery leadership (e.g., Site Management)
  • Lead development of the Annual Budget, multi-year Strategic Plans, and monthly forecasting for the delivery unit
  • Oversee project-level financial performance of the delivery unit, including realization, gross margin, out‑of‑scope (OOS) management, and project risk identification
  • Provide informal leadership and guidance to finance teams through various reporting structures, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Support business development initiatives, including financial modeling for feasibility and resourcing strategies
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and revenue recognition standards

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong business partnership skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and delivery teams
  • Deep understanding of project‑based financials, including resourcing, revenue recognition and margin drivers
  • Advanced analytical, financial modeling, and problem‑solving capabilities
  • Strong presentation and communication skills for executive and board-level reporting
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and drive change initiatives
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial systems

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Finance, including Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) or operational finance roles
  • 5+ years supporting project‑based delivery functions
  • Proven track record in FP&A, strategic planning, and operational finance
  • Experience in Contract Research Organization (CRO), pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in PE-backed or leveraged organizations is desirable
