Position Description
Director of Operations
Reports to: Executive Director
Directly Supervises: Hunger Fight Managers
Status: Full-Time
FLSA: Exempt
Job Purpose:
The Director of Operations will be primarily responsible for all operational activities necessary to achieve stated meal packaging goals and objectives for Meals from the Heartland. This position implements the mission, vision, and core values of the organization by developing, implementing, and evaluating strategies and operational actions to ensure meal production and budget metrics are achieved. This position is a member of the Leadership Team and supervises the hunger fight staff.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Help develop, manage, and execute the annual meal production goal and strategy, evaluating its success and providing recommendations for improvement.
· Keep warehouse clean, well-managed, organized and ready for daily Open Pack and sponsored private packs.
· Manage Mobile Hunger Fight Managers and Part Time Hunger Fight Managers ensuring all events are assigned and managed with excellence.
· Work collaboratively and closely with the Sales Manager and Hunger Fight Managers to ensure efficient relationship building where cross-purposes might exist.
· Work alongside the Finance and Development directors and Marketing and Volunteer Managers to achieve meal production, volunteer, and fundraising goals.
· Responsible for data input into Raisers Edge, inventory tracking spreadsheets and placing Purchase Orders and related paperwork verifying accurate and timely information.
· Negotiate and Purchase all items necessary for meal production, effectively forecasting purchasing needs and arranging best sourced logistics.
· Oversee Monthly and EOY Inventory verifying product counts relative to QuickBooks and analyzing discrepancies.
· Manage Mobile Hunger Fights flawlessly, delivering the very best experience to our Hunger Fight partners and packagers.
· Review procedures and requirements to guarantee nutritional and cleanliness standards are met.
· Manage Meal Distribution to local and national partners setting expectations, forecasting completion of finished meals and arranging logistics with each organization.
· Ensure proper management of Fleet vehicles occurs and all registrations are current.
· Oversee all warehouse and facility activities and needs ensuring a safe food packaging and warehouse environment and maintenance of the overall building and grounds.
· Be a member of the MFTH Leadership team helping the organization achieve its goals.
· Embrace the MFTH mission, vision, and values and promote in all business engagements.
· Encourage and model good collaboration and communication with MFTH staff, board, volunteers, and donors.
· Other management and administrative tasks as assigned.
Minimum Skills and Qualifications:
· Warehouse management, inventory and logistics expertise, production management experience.
· Experience with donor management software or comparable customer relationship and donor management system.
· Competence in standard word-processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Associates degree required, bachelor’s is preferred with focus in non-profit management, logistics, communications, sales, and/or marketing, or proven work experience.

Accountability and Evaluation:
This position is supervised by the Executive Director. A job review is conducted annually. Full and Part-time Hunger Fight Managers as well as the Warehouse Manager report to this position.
Hours/week: 45 – 50 hours per week. Evening and weekend hours, as required.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
