The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the janitorial division, ensuring that cleaning contracts are executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. This role involves managing field supervisors and cleaning staff, maintaining client satisfaction, controlling costs, and implementing operational improvements to support company growth and performance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations & Service Delivery

  • Oversee daily cleaning operations across multiple client sites.
  • Develop and implement cleaning schedules, quality control systems, and performance standards.
  • Ensure all jobs are completed according to contract requirements and safety standards.
  • Monitor supply usage, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
  • Respond promptly to client requests, service issues, and emergencies.

2. Staff Management

  • Recruit, train, and supervise cleaning staff and site supervisors.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching or corrective action when needed.
  • Schedule and coordinate shifts to maintain adequate coverage across all accounts.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.

3. Client Relations

  • Address and resolve client concerns in a timely, professional manner.
  • Maintain long-term relationships through excellent service delivery and communication.
  • Assist in preparing proposals or contract renewals when needed.

5. Compliance & Safety

  • Enforce all company policies, OSHA safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and proper chemical handling procedures.
  • Conduct safety meetings, inspections, and incident investigations.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in janitorial, facilities management, or related operations leadership.
  • Experience managing multiple job sites, staff scheduling, and client relationships.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication with clients and staff (bilingual English/Spanish preferred).
  • Proficient in scheduling, budgeting, and Microsoft Office / operations software.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and safety regulations.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily field-based with regular travel to client sites.
  • Flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends, or emergency call-outs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform site inspections as needed.
