Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Operations Manager with a Civil Engineering background to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of our general contracting business. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in project execution, estimation, and technical office functions, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and coordinate all operational activities across multiple projects.
- Ensure efficient allocation of resources including manpower, equipment, and materials.
- Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Develop and enforce operational policies and procedures to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Oversee project lifecycle from tendering to project completion and handover.
- Ensure projects are delivered within scope, schedule, and budget.
- Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, and subcontractors.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and compliance.
- Lead the estimation process including cost analysis, quantity take-offs, and pricing.
- Review tender documents, drawings, and specifications to prepare competitive bids.
- Collaborate with procurement and technical teams to obtain accurate quotations.
- Identify risks and opportunities during the bidding phase.
- Supervise technical office activities including shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals.
- Ensure all technical documentation complies with project specifications and standards.
- Coordinate with consultants and clients for approvals and clarifications.
- Support project teams with technical guidance and problem-solving.
- Monitor project budgets, cash flow, and cost control measures.
- Review variations, claims, and change orders.
- Work closely with finance to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and health & safety regulations.
- Implement and monitor QA/QC procedures across all projects.
- Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Represent the company in meetings, negotiations, and project discussions.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (master’s degree is a plus).
- Minimum 20 years of experience in Infrastructure and general contracting companies, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Strong experience in estimation, tendering, and technical office operations.
- Proven track record in managing multiple construction projects.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in construction management software and MS Office.
- Strong knowledge of local construction regulations and standards.
