Operations Manager

Job Brief
Manage production floor comprised of welders, laborers and machine operators for steel fabrication. Manage daily operations plan and tasks for employees and stations to meet customer job requirements. Review daily production results and ensure quality and timeliness in maintained throughout the jobs.

  • Check project requirements and drawings prior to release to floor
  • Co-ordinate and allocate labor resources according to upcoming jobs
  • Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed
  • Schedule priority based tasks for jobs
  • Monitor productivity rates and product standards and implement quality control programs
  • Review production efficiencies and implement improvements with team
  • Ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed at all times
  • Co-ordinate final product review and communicate with traffic department shipping requirements
  • Liaise with different departments, teams and companies, e.g. floor personnel, suppliers, managers

Requirements

You'll be involved in the pre-production (planning) stage as well as the production (quality control and supervision) stage. A large part of the job is dealing with people and resource management.

You may also be involved with the management of product manufacturing. Throughout the production flow, you will be faced with assembly, personnel, fabrication , quality and scheduling aspects which will require you to make adjustments to the labor resources. On a daily basis progress will be discussed and managed in unison with the remaining management team. Co-ordination of raw materials needing to be sent to sub-suppliers for machining or coating will need to be arranged/coordinated.

Proven track record of managing people in a production setting whereby you have dealt with multiple areas of production. Welding back-ground is not essential, but surely an asset. People management and communication skills are of utmost importance.

  • Detailed knowledge of production planning
  • Safety conscious and aware of OSHA requirements
  • Computer literate(Word, Excel, E-mail,MS-Teams)
  • Clear communication skills
  • Minimum of 2-year Associate’s or college degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5 year experience in production/operation management capacity

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
