Job Summary

Gray Line Trolley Tours of Asheville seeks an experienced Operations and Fleet Supervisor to oversee the safe and efficient implementation of day-to-day operations. The Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily tour and transportation operations by coordinating staff and fleet to ensure the highest level of safety and customer satisfaction. This position requires a solid commitment to safety, a keen eye for detail, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and a passion for providing outstanding customer experiences.

This is a full-time, salaried position. Final offer will depend on current skills, background, and experience and will be in the $45-$50k range.

Operations & Fleet Supervisor Duties & Responsibilities include:

• Coordinating dispatch of vehicles, communicating with guide/drivers about left passengers, road closures, private charters, and accidents; assisting with office phone, reservations; working on the front line with guests.
• Anticipate guest needs and proactively counsel employees on common issues that you anticipate could arise.
• Supervise, and assist when necessary, mechanic and detailer. This includes refueling vehicles. Oversee all aspects of fleet maintenance and cleaning, including the overall operation and organization of the shop/garage.
• Function as Manager on Duty (MOD) as scheduled/needed.
• Respond to vehicle issues, accidents, and passenger incidents in an immediate manner.
• Regularly update the General Manager, Charter Scheduler, and other MODs on the mechanical status of the fleet.
• Assist in recruiting, selecting, hiring, and training of driver/guides and fleet maintenance staff.
• Support safety and Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance training and adherence, including organizing and conducting safety meetings throughout the year and providing coaching when necessary.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and guidelines by all tour guides, drivers, ticket sellers, and fleet maintenance personnel
• Coordinate with the bookkeeper as necessary to properly document vehicle expenses.

Position Requirements

• General knowledge of the mechanical operation of commercial vehicles.
• Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations.
• Ability to handle stressful situations and difficult people both in person and via the phone while maintaining a professional and pleasant demeanor.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English to communicate with co-workers, the general public, law enforcement, and emergency personnel.
• Ability to sit for long periods, climb stairs multiple times each day, lift 50 pounds to a height of 45 inches and carry it 10 yards, and tolerate a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED. An undergraduate degree is preferred but not required.
• A minimum of 3 years in guest service and/or supervisory/management experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Prior experience in a fast-paced operational environment is preferred.
• Must have working knowledge and proficiency in various PC software, including MS Office products such as Outlook, Excel, Teams, and Word.
• Must have strong leadership and team-building skills.
• Valid Class C or higher Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• An acceptable driving record for the past ten years.

Must pass a pre-employment drug test and a background check.
