This is a unique role that is essential to the success of Kavahana. You will support both our team and our guests, serving as a key connection point for daily operations.
In this role, you will work alongside our General Manager to manage operations, events, and more, and do scheduled shifts across our locations at our tea cafe as a barista/bartender. You will help uphold Kavahana’s high standards while fostering a positive and motivated team environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of our nonalcoholic bar across our multiple locations, including Hollywood & Santa Monica, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere and exceptional customer service at all times.
- Train, coach, and support staff to deliver top-tier service, ensuring they embody our customer-first approach.
- Complete barista/bartending shifts while maintaining excellent customer interactions.
- Create and maintain the weekly staff schedule, ensuring adequate coverage and optimal shift planning.
- Manage inventory effectively, including placing orders and maintaining accurate stock levels.
- Enforce safety, health, and food handling regulations consistently.
- Support in hiring and onboarding new staff, contributing to a strong, customer-focused team.
- Maintain strong time management and organization, helping to optimize the flow of service and enhance the customer experience.
- Work closely with the owners to meet sales targets, analyze performance, and implement strategies to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of prior experience as a shift supervisor or manager in food service or beverage.
- Demonstrated experience in training staff; experience with hiring is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Comfortable appearing in social media content, we love showcasing our team and the experience we create.
- We are looking for someone who is looking for a career in hospitality. Must be comfortable working in fast paced startup environment.
- Strong skills in customer service, time management, problem-solving, and organization.
- Note: This is a FULL-TIME, 50-60+ hour per week role, and stepping in to cover shifts is a necessity. Weekends and holidays are required, and time off during select holiday blackout periods will not be granted.
- Experience in inventory management, including ordering and stock control.
- Experience creating and maintaining weekly staff schedules.
- Local to Hollywood preferred or willing to relocate to be within commuting distance of Hollywood and available to be on-call for emergencies, with the ability to pick up the phone and respond to calls/texts promptly as needed.
