Position Overview
The Operations Manager – Oilfield Division will oversee all daily operations for BLUE LOGISTICS’ frac sand division and lead expansion into other energy transportation sectors. The right candidate must be an expert in oilfield operations, safety, fleet logistics, driver management, and business development.
This is a high-visibility, high-responsibility leadership role with immediate expectations for execution.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership
- Oversee day-to-day frac sand logistics operations across the Permian Basin
- Manage a growing fleet of trucks (company + owner-operators)
- Direct dispatch, scheduling, load coordination, truck utilization, and load efficiency
- Implement and optimize SOPs for 24/7 operations
- Oversee Geotab, TenStreet, ELD systems, and daily KPIs
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure full FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA compliance
- Maintain active Safety & Compliance oversight for all drivers and equipment
- Conduct safety meetings, audits, HOS reviews, and accident investigations
- Develop and enforce oilfield-specific PPE, H2S, fit-testing, hazard mitigation, and site-entry requirements
Business Development & Growth
- Bring an existing book of business (preferred) with proven relationships in:
- Frac sand companies
- Oil producers
- Water haulers
- Completion crews
- Proppant vendors
- Midstream and pipeline companies
- Secure and manage new contracts, master service agreements (MSAs), and multi-year deals
- Collaborate with leadership on expansion into:
- Crude oil hauling
- Water/production hauling
- Chemical and hazardous materials transport
- End-dump and heavy-haul operations
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, train, and manage driver workforce
- Oversee HR coordination for hiring, onboarding, and retention
- Mentor dispatchers, safety personnel, and administrative assistants
- Build a strong operational culture based on performance, accountability, and safety
Financial & Strategic Management
- Track operational KPIs, cost-per-mile, margins, and cost control
- Monitor revenue per truck, load profitability, fleet utilization, and route efficiency
- Work directly with executive leadership to develop scaling strategies
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and operational financial planning
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years in oilfield logistics, transportation, or energy operations
- 5+ years in a senior leadership or operations management role
- Proven ability to manage 50+ trucks (company or owner-operator fleet)
- Strong background in frac sand, drilling, completions, or production operations
- Expertise in FMCSA/DOT compliance, OSHA standards, and oilfield safety
- Must bring or demonstrate the ability to bring a book of business
- Strong leadership, communication, and crisis management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Must be able to start immediately
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Energy Management, Logistics, or related field
- Experience working with major operators (e.g., Halliburton, Pioneer, Oxy, Chevron, Liberty)
- Existing contacts with proppant suppliers, sand mines, and C-suite energy executives
- Experience scaling a fleet from 20 to 150+ trucks
- Familiarity with Ryder fleet maintenance systems
- Data-driven decision making with strong analytical skills
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $160,000–$225,000/year (based on experience)
- Performance bonuses tied to fleet growth, contract acquisition, and safety KPIs
