Operations Manager - Project Engineering & Manufacturing

Due to continued growth, Reading Crane & Engineering , A Flatiron Crane Operating Company, is looking for an Operations Manager - Project Engineering & Manufacturing to join our highly skilled team. Job Summary

The Operations Manager will lead through a team and will be responsible for process ownership, resource allocation, on-time and on-budget delivery, and overall operational performance of project engineering and two manufacturing facilities across Reading and Chalfont, PA along with Baltimore, MD.


Duties & Responsibilities:

Leadership & Operational Management

  • Lead Project Engineering and Manufacturing operations across Reading, PA; Chalfont, PA; and Baltimore, MD
  • Drive operational consistency and alignment across all Mid-Atlantic locations
  • Build and develop a high-performing engineering and manufacturing team
  • Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance metrics
  • Manage workload balancing and resource allocation across locations
  • Drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives


Project Engineering & Technical Execution

  • Oversee technical planning and execution of overhead crane projects and installations
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget
  • Coordinate engineering resources across the district
  • Standardize engineering processes and technical execution
  • Partner with sales and project management to support growth initiatives


Manufacturing Operations

  • Full responsibility for two manufacturing facilities
  • Ensure proper tooling, equipment, and manufacturing capabilities
  • Implement standardized manufacturing processes across locations
  • Drive throughput, productivity, and quality improvements


Process & Execution Excellence

  • Own operational processes across project engineering and manufacturing
  • Develop standardized workflows and procedures
  • Implement best practices across all locations
  • Establish KPIs and performance metrics

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, or related field)
  • 8+ years of engineering, manufacturing, or operations leadership experience
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams
  • Comfortable with travel (25% - 40%)
  • Strong commercial and business acumen
  • Experience managing project execution and delivery
  • Overhead crane or lifting equipment industry experience
  • Industrial manufacturing leadership experience
  • Structural steel fabrication experience
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred
