About the Role: Operations Research Scientist

The Operations Research (OR) team at Turkish Technology is looking for OR Scientists (mid-level and senior) to expand the team that is focused on developing innovative solution methods for the complex decision problems faced by airlines -- such as fleet and network optimization, flight, aircraft, and crew scheduling, disruption management, revenue management, etc. -- to improve the efficiency of planning and operation processes.

As an OR Scientist, you will

• Work with cross-functional teams to analyze business challenges.
• Design analytical models and solution algorithms using OR methods (such as mathematical programming, stochastic & robust optimization, heuristics & metaheuristics, simulation, game theory, etc.)
• Validate and deploy models and solution algorithms as proofs of concept and work with software development teams to ensure implementation accuracy
• Analyze the efficiency of the current planning and operation processes and identify ways to improve, considering the state-of-the-practice
• Conduct scientific research to discover strategies to achieve robust and sustainable performance improvements in planning and operation areas
• Quantify business impacts and convey practical recommendations to stakeholders to facilitate informed decisions
• Promote OR-based decision-making across the company via workshops and tutorials

How do we describe the perfect match?

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, etc.)
• Strong background in modeling, optimization, and algorithms
• Experience in designing, developing, and implementing optimization tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex technical challenges
• Experience in using commercial optimization solvers such as Gurobi and CPLEX.
• Advanced programming skills (Python, C++, JAVA, or equivalent)
• Data processing & analysis skills (SQL, Pandas, etc.)
• Familiarity with software development concepts such as APIs, version control, testing and deployment
• Aptitude to develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Advanced level of proficiency in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. degree in a quantitative discipline
• 5+ years of airline industry or relevant work/research experience
