The Operations Supervisor oversees the daily operations of an automobile transportation location, ensuring efficient, safe, and customer-focused processes. This role is responsible for supervising cargo damage prevention, conducting load securement audits, controlling inventory, load makeup, dispatching vehicles, and delivering exceptional customer service to the drivers and customers. The supervisor leads a team of Auto Transport Specialists to meet operational goals while maintaining compliance with safety regulations and company standards.

Responsibilities

  • Dispatching: Coordinate vehicle dispatching, including scheduling drivers, assigning routes, and monitoring delivery timelines. Resolve dispatch-related issues promptly to maintain operational flow.
  • Plan and optimize delivery routes to ensure efficient and timely deliveries.
  • Damage Prevention: Enforce company protocols to minimize vehicle damage during loading, unloading, and transport. Conduct regular audits and coach transport associates on proper company established procedures.
  • Safety Cargo Audits: Perform routine safety audits to ensure compliance of safe loading and company safety standards. Identify and address potential hazards, maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Inventory Control: Manage vehicle inventory, ensuring accurate tracking, documentation, and reporting. Coordinate with logistics teams to reconcile discrepancies.
  • Load Makeup: Oversee the planning and organization of vehicle load configurations to maximize efficiency and ensure secure transport. Ensure loads meet weight, size, and safety requirements.
  • Customer Service: Act as a point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries, resolving complaints, and ensuring timely communication regarding vehicle transport status. Maintain high customer satisfaction standards.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and motivate terminal staff, including drivers, yard workers, and administrative personnel. Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Maintain accurate records of operations, including inventory reports, safety logs, and performance metrics. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to analyze data and identify trends regarding driver and equipment utilization.
  • Understanding of auto transport processes, including vehicle loading/unloading, scheduling, and routing. Required
  • Must have problem solving skills and ability to assess issues, consider options, and recommend solutions.
  • Understanding of terminal equipment, such as car carriers, and vehicle inspection tools.
  • Knowledge of auto transport industry standards, including vehicle handling procedures to prevent damage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Auto transportation knowledge required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $72,000.00 - $77,000.00 per year
