Job Purpose/Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operator, Panel to join our team. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operational activities in the process area to ensure uninterrupted production and safe operation of the plant. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of chemical processes and operations, excellent problem solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Start and stop the unit following standard operating procedures based on supervisor's instructions.
- Regulate temperature, pressure, rate of flow, and tank level in petroleum refining, processing, and treating units, and petrochemical units according to process schedules.
- Observe instruments and meters, record readings, and adjust dials, switches, valves, and levels on the control panel to regulate and coordinate process variables.
- Report malfunctioning equipment to the shift supervisor.
- Record results of laboratory analyses and adjust parameters accordingly.
- Operate auxiliary equipment to assist in distilling or treating operations.
- Monitor and log critical process parameters of the plant.
- Conduct physical inspections in the field to ensure operational equipment is in good working condition.
- Follow safe shutdown and start up procedures in specific areas of the plant.
- Monitor and report operational performance to supervisors.
- Provide suggestions for the improvement of plant operations and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational problems in coordination with the DCS Panel operator and Shift Supervisor.
- Unload raw materials into designated storage tanks (if applicable).
- Dispatch finished products into tankers/ISO containers (if applicable).
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the workplace.
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental guidelines and regulations.
- Enforce safety precautions and procedures.
- Write and submit reports to the Shift Supervisor regarding operational performance, plant equipment, maintenance requirements, etc.
- Follow safety instructions, wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, and promote a culture of "Safety First."
- Adhere to operational EHS guidelines.
Education:
- High school diploma, Technical Diploma, or equivalent education.
Experience:
- 2 to 6 years of operational experience with a strong knowledge of chemical processes and operations.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Planning and scheduling.
- Work in confined spaces, perform hot works, and work at heights.
- Familiarity with Work Permit Procedure/Work Permit Issuer.
- Effective communication and listening skills.
- Strong work ethic and adherence to company policies and standard business etiquette.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
- Self-starter with minimal supervision required for routine activities.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and foster a cooperative team environment.
