Job Title: Operator – Straightening & Cutting

Job Summary

The Operator – Straightening & Cutting is responsible for operating straightening and cutting machines to process steel bars/rods according to approved drawings, cutting schedules, and production requirements while ensuring quality, safety, and productivity standards are met.

Key Responsibilities Machine Operation

• Operate straightening and cutting machines safely and efficiently.
• Set machine parameters (length, diameter, quantity) as per cutting schedule.
• Load raw materials and ensure proper feeding into the machine.
• Monitor machine performance and report abnormalities immediately.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and minor adjustments.

Production & Quality

• Ensure cut bars meet specified length, tolerance, and straightness.
• Conduct basic dimensional checks using measuring tools.
• Segregate non-conforming materials and inform supervisor/QC.
• Maintain production output as per daily targets.
• Minimize material wastage and scrap.

Safety & Housekeeping

• Follow HSE rules, PPE requirements, and safe operating procedures.
• Ensure machine guarding and safety devices are functional.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper housekeeping around the work area.
• Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents.

Coordination & Documentation

• Coordinate with Shop Floor In-Charge, QC, and stores.
• Maintain daily production and machine operation records.
• Assist during machine maintenance and shutdowns.

Skills & Competencies

• Experience in operating straightening and cutting machines.
• Basic understanding of steel grades and bar diameters.
• Ability to read cutting schedules and basic drawings.
• Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
• Physically fit to handle shop floor activities.

Qualifications

• ITI / Trade Certificate preferred.
• 2–4 years of experience in steel manufacturing or rebar processing.
• Freshers with relevant machine experience may be considered.
