Ophthalmic Scribe/Assistant

We are a progressive, state-of-the-art facility dedicated to excellence in patient care. Join our healthcare team as an Ophthalmic Scribe/Assistant, where you'll play a vital role in supporting ophthalmologists and eye care professionals by ensuring accurate and efficient documentation of patient encounters. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of eye care, combining medical documentation expertise with direct patient interaction. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help streamline clinic operations, enhance patient experiences, and contribute to high-quality ophthalmic care. Successful candidates should be a highly motivated, team player, with excellent people skills, and the desire to provide high quality patient care. Ophthalmic assistant experience preferred, but willing to train a motivated individual. Training will take place at our Warner Robins location.

Primary location will be in Macon, some travel to Warner Robins office.

Duties

  • Excellent detailed patient history taking/complete patient work-ups, refractometry, lensometry, tonometry, keratometry, ancillary testing, A-Scan/IOLmaster, pachymetry, topography. Certification preferred or equivalent experience and accuracy in skills.
  • Accurately transcribe detailed clinical notes during patient examinations, ensuring all relevant medical information is captured in real-time.
  • Assist ophthalmologists by preparing patient charts, updating electronic health records (EHR) and electronic medical records (EMR) systems with precise documentation.
  • Support the clinical team by managing medical records, verifying patient information, and ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of ocular anatomy and physiology to assist with documentation related to eye conditions and procedures.
  • Use typing skills efficiently to record medical terminology, patient histories, and examination findings swiftly and accurately.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure smooth flow of patient visits, including scheduling follow-ups and managing medical documentation workflows.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor while handling sensitive patient information

Skills

  • Proficiency in transcription with excellent attention to detail and accuracy in medical documentation.
  • Prior experience working in a medical office environment or ophthalmology clinic is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems for seamless data entry and retrieval.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to eye health, and general medical records management.
  • Excellent typing skills combined with the ability to quickly adapt to new software platforms.
  • Knowledge of medical records management practices and confidentiality standards essential for maintaining compliance.
