Position: Ophthalmic Technician
Department: Ophthalmology / Eye Care Unit
Reports to: Ophthalmologist / HOD – Ophthalmology
Job Summary:
The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for assisting ophthalmologists in providing high-quality patient care by conducting diagnostic eye tests, preparing patients for examination, maintaining ophthalmic equipment, and supporting clinical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist ophthalmologists during eye examinations, minor procedures, and surgeries.
- Perform diagnostic tests including refraction, visual acuity, keratometry, tonometry, A-scan, B-scan, OCT, visual fields, and fundus photography.
- Record and maintain accurate patient history, test results, and other clinical data.
- Guide and prepare patients for ophthalmic procedures with clear instructions.
- Calibrate, clean, and maintain ophthalmic instruments and ensure proper functioning.
- Support in maintaining stock and inventory of ophthalmic supplies.
- Ensure patient comfort, confidentiality, and adherence to hospital protocols.
- Provide patient education regarding eye care, post-procedure precautions, and follow-up requirements.
- Adhere to infection control and NABH standards in all clinical practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Ophthalmic Technology (D.Opt / B.Opt) or equivalent.
- Experience: 0–2 years of relevant experience (freshers may also apply).
- Skills:
- Proficiency in ophthalmic diagnostic tests and use of relevant instruments.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and record-keeping abilities.
- Ability to work in a team with doctors and nursing staff.
- Knowledge of patient safety and hospital quality standards (NABH preferred).
Work Conditions:
- Full-time, hospital-based role.
- May require flexible working hours as per patient load or emergencies.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
