Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in ophthalmology, patient care, and medical office procedures. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in assisting ophthalmologists with patient examinations, performing diagnostic tests, and ensuring the smooth operation of clinical workflows. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality eye care while developing your expertise in ophthalmic procedures and medical systems.
Duties
- Assist eye doctors during patient examinations by preparing patients and equipment, and performing preliminary assessments.
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as visual acuity assessments, intraocular pressure measurements, perform specialty testing, provide patient with accurate out-of-pocket estimates.
- Take and record vital signs, medical history, and intake information while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR) systems including Epic and other EMR platforms to document clinical findings accurately.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Provide exceptional patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring a comfortable experience for all patients.
- Support front desk operations including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information
Qualifications
- Prior experience in ophthalmic or medical office settings is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health and vision care.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms for documentation purposes.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient privacy at all times.
- Experience with intake procedures, vital signs measurement, and clinical assessments.
- Basic knowledge of optical products, retail sales techniques, and retail math is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide compassionate patient care in a fast-paced environment.
