We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our eye care team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in optometry, medical assisting, and patient care, with the ability to perform clinical procedures accurately and efficiently. As an integral part of our practice, the Ophthalmic Technician will support the optometrist by conducting patient assessments, managing medical records, and ensuring a seamless patient experience. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about eye health and eager to contribute to high-quality patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients during their eye examinations by collecting medical history and performing preliminary assessments.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests such as visual acuity measurements, Visual Field Testing, Retinal Photography and optical coherence tomography (OCT) scans using specialized equipment.
  • Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and ensure privacy during all interactions.
  • Prepare patients for procedures by explaining processes clearly.
  • Manage electronic medical records (EMR) systems , documenting patient information accurately and efficiently.
  • Support front desk operations including patient intake, appointment scheduling, and verifying insurance information while maintaining excellent customer service.
  • Assist with inventory management of ophthalmic supplies, ensuring proper stock levels and proper storage practices.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure compliance with safety protocols and facilitate smooth clinic operations.
  • Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology to understand ocular conditions and assist in patient education.
  • Support The Optical by providing knowledgeable recommendations to patients on glasses, measuring for bifocals, adjusting and repairing glasses

Experience

  • Prior experience working in an optometry clinic is highly preferred, with familiarity in clinic procedures and medical office workflows.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using EMR systems for documentation and scheduling.
  • Strong understanding of medical coding and billing related to ophthalmic services.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to the eye.
  • Experience in retail sales and front desk operations.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Pay: $10.00 - $18.00 per hour
