Education and Experience:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Experience in a health care setting required.
3. Experience in ophthalmology required.
4. Experience in Applanation Tonometry, Refractometry, Lensometry, Ocular and Medical history documentation and a variety of Ophthalmic diagnostic testing preferred.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
1. Exceptional customer service skills.
2. Strong attention to detail.
3. Ability to work with frequent interruptions and respond appropriately to unexpected situations.
4. Ability to interact and communicate with providers and staff
5. participate as a team member with individuals inside and outside the department.
6. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
7. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 LBS.
Scribe RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Accompany provider into patient exams
2. Accurately document patient history, chief complaint, review of systems, medical and ocular history, medications, and allergies
3. Record examination findings including visual acuity, intraocular pressure, slit lamp findings, and diagnostic test results as dictated by the physician
4. Retrieved diagnostic reports and imaging results for physician review
5. Document assessment and plan as directed by the provider
6. Enter procedure notes and assist with minor in-office procedures documentation
7. Ensure charts are completed, organized, and ready for physician review and signature
8. Prepare exam rooms as needed between patients. Aid as ophthalmic tech, as needed.
Ophthalmic Assistant RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Escort patients from waiting room to exam rooms
2. Conducts necessary testing to include:
- Pachymetry
- Retinal/Optic nerve OCT imaging
- Fundus Photos
- Automated Periphery
- Tonometry
- Refractometry
- Manual Lensometry
- Color and Stereo Testing, others as directed
3. Administers eye drops for tonometry, dilation and prepares patient for laser procedures
4. Documents in electronic medical records
5. Obtains appropriate consent forms
6. Conducts patient phone calls to review medical concerns
7. Schedules patient appointments, as needed
8. Processes medication refills as directed by the provider
Pay: From $21.00 per hour
