Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Scribe/Technician to join our medical team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting ophthalmologists by accurately documenting patient encounters and ensuring that all relevant information is captured in the electronic health record. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, particularly within the field of ophthalmology.

Duties

  • Accurately document patient histories, examination findings, and treatment plans during patient visits.
  • Assist ophthalmologists during examinations by recording pertinent information in real-time.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling sensitive patient information.
  • Collaborate with front desk staff to manage patient flow and scheduling effectively.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date electronic health records using systems such as Nextech.
  • Provide support in ophthalmology cases, understanding the unique needs of elderly patients.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to gather necessary information and explain procedures when needed.
  • Stay informed about current ophthalmic practices and terminology to enhance documentation accuracy.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred, particularly in ophthalmology.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and anatomy knowledge is essential for accurate documentation.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security.
  • Experience with electronic health record systems, especially Nextech, is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are critical for success in this role.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team while maintaining professionalism at all times.
