Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe/Medical Assistant

Century Eye Care is a private ophthalmology practice offering exceptional eye care to a truly diverse patient population. We are a three doctor team (one ophthalmologist and two optometrists) supported by amazing staff between two facilities. Our main office in Gardena is a state-of-the-art facility equipped with advanced diagnostic equipment to best serve our patients. In addition to medical optometry, ophthalmology, and an array of surgical procedures, we offer routine eye exams and optical retail.

We are seeking a motivated and energetic technician to join our practice and help care for our patients. The right applicant will have a strong understanding of patient care, a willingness to learn, and be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Most importantly, the candidate must be able to work compassionately with patients of all ages and backgrounds.

Essential Duties:

  • Proficiency in completing patient in-take, work-up, testing, scribe using electronic health record system
  • Ability to conduct various auxiliary testing including: visual fields, OCTs, A-scan biometry, fundus photography, topography
  • Organize and stock rooms, manage inventory, sterilize equipment/instruments
  • Willingness to assist Doctors as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Required: minimum of 1 year work experience in Ophthalmology or Optometry
  • Preferred: bi-lingual, Spanish speaking (not required)
  • Preferred: COA, COT (not required)
  • Preferred: Associates Degree (not required)

Skills and Abilities:

  • Fluency in ophthalmic and medical terminology
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to effectively multi-task
  • Desire to cross-train and assist in other departments if needed
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy, reliability

As an Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe/Medical Assistant, you will be a vital member of our healthcare team, utilizing your core skills in Ophthalmology, medical office experience, and knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology. Your premium skills in patient care, HIPAA compliance, and aseptic technique will be instrumental in providing high-quality care to our patients. Additionally, your familiarity with EMR systems and medical coding, along with your bilingual proficiency in Spanish, will enhance your ability to communicate effectively and deliver exceptional patient care.
