Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Optician who is eager to learn and grow within the field of eye care. This position offers comprehensive training to develop your skills in optical services, patient interactions, and medical procedures. The ideal candidate will possess a strong interest in ophthalmology and healthcare, with a desire to build a rewarding career in opticianry while supporting our team in delivering outstanding patient experiences.

Duties

  • Assist patients in selecting eyewear that meets their needs and preferences, utilizing retail sales techniques.
  • Support the dispensing of glasses and contact lenses, ensuring proper fit and comfort for patients.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, including documentation of patient interactions and medical terminology.
  • Follow HIPAA regulations diligently to protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Gain experience with laboratory procedures such as lens fitting, adjustments, and repairs.
  • Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Operate electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or similar EMR platforms efficiently.
  • Uphold aseptic techniques during clinical procedures to ensure safety and hygiene standards are met.
  • Assist in managing clinic inventory, including optical supplies, medical equipment, and retail products.

Experience

  • Prior experience in retail sales or customer service is advantageous but not required; training will be provided.
  • Basic knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology related to eye health is preferred.
  • Familiarity with laboratory work or optical experience is a plus but not mandatory; comprehensive training will be offered.
  • Experience working with EMR systems such as Epic or other electronic medical records platforms is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of medical billing and coding practices related to ophthalmology can enhance your role but is not essential at start.

Pay: $15.00 - $23.00 per hour
