Ophthalmic Lab Technician (Part-Time) – Green Eye Care

Location: East Harlem, NY

Schedule: 1 Day Per Week

Are you a precision-focused Lab Technician looking for a consistent, low-stress weekly shift? Green Eye Care is looking for a skilled Ophthalmic Lab Tech to join our Harlem team for one day a week to manage our in-house finishing.

The Role

We are looking for someone to take full ownership of our finishing lab during their shift. You’ll be responsible for producing high-quality eyewear for our patients using modern equipment in a professional, community-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Precision Edging: Perform high-quality edging, blocking, and mounting of lenses.
• Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain a newer Coburn edger (experience with modern Coburn technology is highly preferred).
• Quality Control: Conduct final inspections to ensure all jobs meet ANSI standards and our office's quality benchmarks.
• Maintenance: Keep the lab clean and perform basic daily maintenance on the edging system.
• Tinting/Surfacing: Perform basic tinting or hand-finishing as required.

Qualifications

• Experience: Proven experience as an Ophthalmic Lab Technician, specifically in finishing/edging.
• Technical Skill: Proficiency with automatic edgers (Coburn experience is a major plus).
• Detail Oriented: A "measure twice, cut once" mentality with a commitment to accuracy.
• Reliability: Ability to work independently and manage the lab workflow efficiently for a single dedicated day.
