Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Optical Manager to oversee our optical department and ensure the highest level of patient care and satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in ophthalmology and optical services, coupled with excellent management skills. This role requires a commitment to maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations while providing exceptional service in a retail environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the optical department, ensuring efficiency and quality service.
- Supervise staff, providing training and support to enhance performance and customer engagement.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure patient confidentiality is upheld.
- Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies and maintaining accurate records.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care, including conducting vision tests and interpreting results.
- Utilize EMR systems, such as Epic, for accurate medical records management.
- Implement retail sales strategies to meet departmental goals while providing exceptional customer service.
- Ensure proper handling of medical billing, coding, and insurance claims processing.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to discuss performance metrics, updates on policies, and training needs.
Experience
- Proven experience in ophthalmology or optical settings is essential.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, physiology knowledge, and vital signs is highly desirable.
- Experience with EMR systems and medical coding is preferred.
- Background in retail management or retail sales is beneficial for driving department success.
- Laboratory experience or knowledge of aseptic techniques will be considered an asset.
- Previous experience working with pediatrics or senior care populations is a plus.
